Lightbulb Guil Wars Random Freezing (SOLVED!!!)

After much hair-pulling, swearing, and general frustration, I've FINALLY solved my Guild Wars random freezing problem. The fix has been confirmed by GW tech support.

[DISCLAIMER]

This fix worked for me, with my partcular configuration your mileage may vary]

The problem lies with the GW client, Windows Media Center, and DirectX 9 not playing well together. The fix is:

Run GW with the -dx8 switch. This will force GW to use the DirectX8 renderer, and has completely eliminated the freezes on my system.

So...it ain't the video cards, or the sound card, or the RAM or nVidia drivers...it's Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition not working right with GW and DirectX 9. Try it and post here if this fixes your freezing issues.

GL & HF gg!!

Did you try disabling SLI? Kind of silly you have to run the game in dx8 (post-process effects won't work for me in dx8).
